Marangoni instability in a viscoelastic binary film with cross-diffusive effect

The viscoelastic fluids are usually the blends of a polymeric solute and Newtonian solvent. In presence temperature gradient, stratification these solutes can take place via Soret effect. Here, we investigate classical Marangoni instability problem for thin film considering this binary aspect fluid. film, bounded above by deformable free surface, is subjected to heating from below solid substrate. Linear stability analysis performed numerically perturbations finite wavelength (short-wave perturbations) reveals that both monotonic oscillatory instabilities emerge in system. interaction between thermocapillary solutocapillary forces diffusion found give rise two different instabilities, which one mode was overlooked previously, even mixtures. As principal result work, provide complete picture susceptibility modes based on model parameter values. Finally, an approximate developed under framework long-wave analysis, qualitatively depict behaviour system without solving problem.
